Hi, just to know if Amazfit watch are technically supportable Thx for this wonderful project

FlorentRevest commented 6 years ago

It depends on whether you are able to unlock its bootloader, and find its kernel's source tree (you will need the watch's codename which can usually be found in logcat or dmesg from adb) in https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/branches/all?page=1

Curious to see if anyone is interested in testing this out, I recently got the Amazfit Stratos and find it would great with AsteroidOS. From here it seems it is feasible to unlock the bootloader. https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/tool-tool-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3874802 added a more updated link

It would be really amazing to have Amazfit Bip running AsteroidOS. It would be the first sport smartwatch available for people who care about free software and practice sport. For 60€, a nice and trustworthy companion for daily life and sport session with its GPS and cardio included, it would be awesome. For the record of its possibilities : https://www.maison-et-domotique.com/82152-xiaomi-amazfit-bip-test-montre-gps/

I would be ready to buy one and do tests.

Hi, bought Amazfit Stratos (version 2s) couple days ago and played with it a little bit. Can confirm that it's possible to unlock these watches (via https://unlockamazfit.com) as usual Android device (via adb and fastboot) and flash it with firmware (changed FW from Chinese to International one). And, according to forums, it's also possible to install custom software to this watch.

Looks like (not 100% sure) there is Ingenic M200S processor inside (as in Amazfit Pace). I couldn't found any Xiaomi/Huami source (Linux Kernel) code in internet except these source code links on the Ingenic web-site:

http://www.ingenic.com.cn/en/?product/id/10.html http://www.ingenic.com.cn/en/?product/id/10/lm/4.html

Interesting to hack this device more.

I am interested in testing this. We do have some sources for an old build of the basic hardware of Amazfit Pace/Stratos/Verge (https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/sources-amazfit-ingenic-sources-t3845295, also available directly from ingenic).

Can somebody guide us?

FlorentRevest commented 5 years ago

Great news! :D Provided that you can both access the bootloader and have the source code of the kernel (or even better, the full android source tree), you can now have a look at the AsteroidOS porting guide https://asteroidos.org/wiki/porting-guide/ As mentioned in the guide, I (and others) would be very happy to provide real-time assistance in the #asteroid IRC channel (within the limits of our timezone/availabilities of course so just make sure you wait long enough ;) ) you are of course also very welcome to keep on exchanging information here.

@GreatApo : Any news on your attempts and progress?

GreatApo commented 5 years ago

@Thatoo We have some devs trying to fix ingenic's kernel sources. Work is done, but very slowly

While I would be extremely happy to receive Asteroid on my Verge, the big issue is that the Ingenic M200s chipset is still extremely far behind on Linux support, and being MIPS does not help at all. However, if any of these efforts come to a point, I will be happy to be an early tester in any case,

GreatApo commented 3 years ago

For anyone interested, all efforts have been stopped. The amazfit community is pretty much dead in terms of development.

cunidev commented 3 years ago

That explains a lot. I just got a Verge, and have been honestly quite surprised by how abandoned everything looks. Weird considered how the Stratos 3 was released just in 2020, and is seemingly not much more supported.

By the way: thanks for your Calendar app, it's the most useful thing I have on the watch. Surprising how the timeline widget is not a built-in feature

:(

Zepp app is bugged, it doesn't work well with Stratos. There is no hope development would be resumed to rescue our watches from EoL?

If you are referring to Stratos 2 (not 3), try using amazmod, vut it is deprecated too

NovaAndrom3da commented 1 year ago

Would it be possible to install on the Bip U Pro? I have it, and I still get updates from time-to-time on the Zepp app.
