Chrono Cross freezes on new game #23

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load Chrono Cross.img
2. Get to main menu
3. Start new game

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see some sort of movie scene.

What version of the product are you using?
The latest available on the homebrew browser.

Please provide any additional information below.
I suspect it is a movie scene causing the crash. The 3D intro that says
"press start" works just fine. Perhaps a new release of the emulator could
patch the roms to either remove or replace the movies. Is it an issue with
FF9 as well? I know it uses similar movie methods.

I have the exact same problem with PCSX on my mac... from what I remember from
the
actual game though, the place where it crashes isn't a movie but simply the
screen
where you name your character...

So it's pcsx, not just this. On my linux distro, the pad didn't even work, so I
couldn't get that far. Oh well....

enabling the "Odd & Even Hack" and "Fake gpu busy" in peops plugin will fix the
problem.
not sure if they are available for pcsx-revolution.

The fixes are available in pcsx-revolution. You go to Graphics configuration
(without loading the game) and check "Use game fixes" and then check "Odd/even
bit hack" and "Fake gpu busy states". Thank you very much weiminghi for the
info. Now i can play Chrono Cross with my PS3 controller YEAH!

It lets me get past the screen, but I can't increase the frame rate to more
than 7fps.
