Enable style choosing in VirtualDub TextSub plugin #9

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
When using the TextSub plugin together w/ VirtualDub and a SRT file, one
cannot choose the style (font, size, colors...) of the showed subtitles.

VobSub 2.23 used to have this feature.
It was lost somewhere along the way.

Well we need clarify things. First of all, that dialog was never touched while
we were
making VSFilterMod, we even don't know that it existed or how it looks. Second,
as you
may notice this project is based on VSFilter 2.39, and we have nothing to do
with it
if it was removed earlier.

If you really want to get this dialog back, we need you to provide its detailed
description and exact version of VSFilter which had this dialog. Source code
may be
very very helpfull, check SVN history at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/

Yeah, this feature was removed way before you started your nice mod... :-)
VobSub 2.23 had it, but it was removed somewhere along the way to 2.37.

When using 2.23, the open file dialog allowed us to click a "Styles" button and
pick
a style that you want for the subtitles. See attached picture.

When using anything newer than 2.23, a simple "open file" dialog pops up, which
only
allows you to choose the subtitle file, but not the style.

I uploaded the TextSub 2.23 VirtualDub filter (w/ its vobsub.dll file; the older
VobSub wasn't monolithic) here:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/7c0txa
(you can put the vobsub.dll inside the VirtualDub dir instead of copying it to
system32)

Source code for the old VobSub is available here:
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/vobsub.html ("Title: vobsub_src.rar")

Well, after digging into source code I can say, that it's unusable with current
code
base. Also I'm too lazy to reimplement this thing, when you can archive desired
result
with ASS format.
