This was highlighted in a different issue that was mostly resolved. However, this enhancement is still important. The zoom and context show expanded version of the region around the cursor and the entire image with a small box that shows the size of the current window.

Of note, the context box region showing the current view can be grabbed and moved around the rest of the image.

The zoom box is blank when the cursor is off the image.

The attached figure shows the implementation in ds9. zoomandcontext

This has been implemented as an enhancement. I will open a separate issue regarding individual issues for the tools.
