[QUESTION]:Why Online installer stuck on 65%? #72

Question

When i trying to install directly on my laptop like baremetal the offline install without providing internet connection it worked and installed on my laptop but when i provide internet connection and try to install with online installer it get stuck on 65% and on toggle screen it shows pacman -Su -noconfirm!

Hello, you should use the offline installation.

But how can i install different themes and shells and other applications then?

No, the online installer is working but can cause some errors. Try updating the installer and mirrors, otherwise it could also just be that you have to wait (seeing what you sent, pacman -Su -noconfirm is used for installing the packages, therefore it could just take some time and keep stuck on a certain percentage for a while).

The explanation is simple: if you are using and old ISO (like the one of 2023.06), at 65% the system must upgrade all the packages from June to this current day, that could be a good amount of GB, and the speed of installation depends on your Internet speed.

So, the suggestion is to use rolling ISO that are usually provided weekly (or monthly, we must still define this aspect) so that 65% will take less time. https://sourceforge.net/projects/athena-iso/files/rolling/

On the next release we officially start to distribute Rolling Releases in order to prevent this kind of issues. For themes, you can still change them also post install by athena-theme-tweak.

PS: currently we are waiting for GNOME 45 update to recover all those cyber elements that have been already migrated to GNOME 45.

@Infmous0099 Try installing with online installer from SourceForge. @D3vil0p3r just uploaded a new iso last night and I was able to install with the online installer in a VM without any issue. The link is https://sourceforge.net/projects/athena-iso/files/rolling/ Hopefully this works for you.
