Seems like this is no longer the case.
However, when a mob runs out of range the loot window does not close. You can still loot the gold or whatever and your chat will say "You loot XX copper" but you won't actually get it unless the mob is back in range.
Rev 4018 - still an issue
If a mob goes out of range while you pickpocket, the loot window should close, but does not.
Description: A mob walking/running out of range while [Spell]Pick Pocket#921 without the player looting it's pocket or the player him/herself walking out of range will upon re-[Spell]Pick Pocket#921 the same mob incorrectly receive the "Your target has already had its pockets picked"-message rather than being able to loot the same loot over again. Expected behaviour: If the pockets of a mob weren't looted you should be able to [Spell]Pick Pocket#921 normally /w loot unless it resists.
