I'd like the ability to have a photo on contacts and teams like we do on Dog.

I would say don't copy this to the contact or dog, just have it live there as TeamPhoto. This is likely to get populated w the photo we use for their ID card that has both client and dog.
On Contact, it could go maybe after the address field, before the lead fields?
The main use case is to have these for team facilitators and clients so they know what each other look like when meeting.
