Species records being assigned to invalid synonyms as a result of taxonomy not being in ALA #168

This is an old Freshdesk query raised by Niels. Records of the two species are being incorrectly assigned to fungal taxa as a result of a) the correct taxa not being in ALA (one is an o/s species and the other is an algal species we don't have) and b) the synonyms that are in the ALA are invalid and are coming from NZOR and c) the higher level taxonomy in the original records are being ignored in names matching.

avh] Myriocarpa and Delisea are not fungi [SEC=OFFICIAL] C Curnow, Judith reported via email 10 months ago (Mon, 20 Feb 2023 at 12:23 PM)

To:"avh@chah.org.au" avh@chah.org.au Dear AVH

My name’s Heino Lepp and I’m piggybacking on this email. I’ve been looking at some fungal stuff on AVH/ALA and have found a few problems. I assume that when fixed on AVH, the corrected records will also appear on ALA.

Myriocarpa, as a plant genus, dates to 1846. The same name was used (invalidly) as a fungal genus in 1870 (with Phyllosticta a later home for the relevant fungi). AVH holds several records of plants where the supplied Myriocarpa name has been mistakenly put through some fungal filter, so that the output record bears Phyllosticta. I give one example in an attachment. Note also that the Higher classification field is nonsensical – but I can’t imagine how an author abbreviation ended up here.

Delisea is an algal genus, dating to 1819. Here again the name was used (invalidly) as a fungal genus in 1825. The Delisea records on AVH have also gone through some fungal filter, but here the only changes have occurred in the Kingdom to Order fields – and the second attachment shows one example.
