I’m emailing you today about a taxonomic synonym issue within ALA.
When you search “myrtle rust” in ALA, the top search result is Uredo rangelii. Although myrtle rust in Australia was initially thought to be this species (U. rangelii) it is now known to be Austropuccinia psidii (FKA Puccinia psidii).
The records of U. rangelii should be synonymised with Austropuccinia psidii if possible, and Austropuccinia psidii should be the top result for ‘myrtle rust’.
--------//-----------
We have A. psidii with P. psidii and U. rangelii as synonms from NZOR. U. rangelii as an accepted name is coming from the biosecurity list. Have emailed Tom May about adding A. psidii to AusFungi - P. psidii is currently listed in the AusFungi taxonomy, but was added after our last download to the AusFungi taxonomy.
