If I select order Plecoptera, I'm told ALA holds 12211 records. I go to the occurrences page and choose "Download" to go to the new selector page. There I select full Darwin Core, TSV, for testing, and get a 12211-record download. Here's the tally of values in the Darwin Core "order" field:
There is no indication in the 412 mite records that these specimens were found on Plecoptera, and the "associatedTaxa" field for the Plecoptera table is completely blank.
Similarly with the 454895 records for order Coleoptera:
9 [no order given; these are for seaweeds in genus Codium]
376780 Coleoptera
4 Dictyotales (algae)
28807 Diptera (flies)
16833 Hemiptera (true bugs)
32460 Hymenoptera (ants, bees, wasps, etc)
2 Insectivora (European hedgehog]
again, there is no indication in the table that these beetles were found associated with the non-beetles.
The selector doesn't seem to be failing for plant taxa.
