A user reported (via helpdesk, ticket 14202) that he saw "An error has occurred" when going to downloads.ala.org.au; I verified that this text was displayed within normal header/footer context.
This wasn't picked up as an error by monitoring because it was returning a 200 status.
Restarted tomcat and the site behaved as normal. Latest error in downloads.log before restarting was:
