Contextual layer processing should place area of pairwise intersections into the gazetteer. How we would label these to enable discovery, I leave to wiser heads.
The issue here is that the Spatial Portal's Tabulation tool is based on all of thee areas and it would fill a gap to enable the areas to be mapped and used from Add to Map | Area | Gazetteer polygon.
For example any of the intersections of the recent fire footprint with say CAPAD 2018 terrestrial classes could be mapped and analyzed adding significant functionality and obviating the need to run a separate Add to Map | Merge areas | Intersect, as it has already been done!
