Have you tried to check if this happens without mesosphere?

piepie62 commented 3 years ago

Yes: it does not. Scires asked me to open an issue, as he is currently unable to test anything related to a dock and I could find no other way to reproduce this

Is the game installed to the SD or the eMMC? and what format SD? I can attempt to reproduce

Ah, also it is on the emuMMC?

Edit: Can confirm; just docked/undocked the console, I now have a black screen ingame. The game isn't frozen however, the audio is still playing. This is with a third party dock and first party dock. Does the game entirely freeze for you or do you get audio? As a note, I am making sure to load the game all the way to Delfino Plaza to test.

Notes:

-I can still exit out to the main menu by pressing the home button; it just can't properly close the app from home. It tries for like 10 seconds and then says an error has occurred, and only then does it actually fully close.

-this occurs when installed to the eMMC or the fat32 SD, so ignore my initial question I guess

(that's literally just zipped because github doesn't let you upload mp4's)

Yep, those are the exact symptoms. I didn't think to mention it, but I'm using a cartridge, so that's all three locations that it occurs from

I have also reproduced the issue, but only on the south half of Delfino Plaza where you spawn after booting the game. The bug doesn't occur if the switch is docked or undocked while Mario is on the north side of the plaza (where there is sunlight at the beginning of the game), and the camera is also facing north. I also docked and undocked in both Bianco Hills and Ricco Harbor areas, and didn't see the bug occur at either of those locations at all.
