The information requirements around uploading a record with patient information are sufficiently unique to the use case that this is best managed via a profile.

The requirements are:

• Individual’s Healthcare Identifier (IHI) is mandatory
• Individual’s given name is optional
• Individual’s family name is mandatory
• Individual’s name suffix is optional
• Individual's gender is mandatory)
• Individual’s sex is optional
• Individual's date of birth is mandatory
• Date of birth accuracy indicator is optional
• Indigenous status is mandatory
• Individual’s address is prohibited
• Individual’s electronic communication details is prohibited
• photo is prohibited

What it actually enables people to do

Improves understanding of requirements for the My Health Record system. Allows for improved conformance and validation for this scenario. Enforces safety requirements.
