I have mentioned this paper to you before, which comes from the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Sustainable Data Management Cluster. Finally they have released a preprint and I am sure there is much in it that will be relevant to both our AuScope repository, and also for AuScope funded projects and instruments that are about to start collecting data.
The paper, Earth Science Data Repositories: Implementing the CARE Principles ,is a culmination of 3 years of collaborative work between members of the Global Indigenous Data Aliance (GIDA) and members of the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Sustainable Data Management Cluster (many of whom have first had experience in managing indigenous Earth and environmental science data in their repositories).
The guidelines presented in the paper are written for data repository managers and data system architects, particularly those responsible for Earth and environmental science data. I find them to be one of the most pragmatic set of guidelines written for those involved in repositories with legacy Earth and Environmental science data and samples collected on Indigenous lands, particularly where the repository was not involved in the collection phase. The paper also has pragmatic advice for those hosting really large volume, aggregated datasets such as satellite data and climate models at global scale.
