Collecting Scan freezes/then takes a very long time #23

using version 0.94

When running "full scan" on Auctionator - everything runs fine. (for reference, I know its a different mod) When running "scan" on any of the Collectionator tabs, the addon sits at 10% for ~2 minutes, and then takes another 5 or so to get to 100%.

Is this known/working as intended? I JUST "found" this addon, and love it, so I never used it before 9.5.7. I question how long it takes, because the default WOW UI has no issue running armor/uncollected - but Collectionator has way better options and is easier to purchase several in a row, so I'd love to use it everyday!

Please and thank you for your time.

I'm not an expert by any means, but this issue started happening after the release of 9.5.7 and the AH updates, so I can only assume it's related to the overall lag/issues of the current AH. It's also possible that Blizz has throttled scanning as well.

CraigeryTheKid commented 2 years ago

Yeah I should have said if it's yet another issue from 9.5.7, I understand the modders pain. This means it's NOT intended/normal and that makes sense.

edit: 0.95 update today, issue is the same. long freeze at 10%, then way too long to start ticking/finishing to be worth using.

plusmouse commented 2 years ago

Hi. The 0.95 update was minor cleanup in preparation for reworking the search functionality to be faster (and it adds a 10s time saving to the scan, but that isn't much in comparison to 5 minutes)

Yeah, the 9.2.7 changes have caused significant issues. Mainly due to the scan method (replicate) used by Collectionator, this is a Blizzard supplied scan type, but now that it includes the region-wide commodities (and there isn't an option to exclude them) it now takes quite a bit longer to get results - it was below 30s on a full pop realm before

There are changes I can make to speed up pets/mounts/toys/recipes searching and unique appearances tmog searching, but they involve reworking the scanning components to use a different method that does let me filter out the commodities from the search query. Its on my todo list.

Thanks for the reply. Knowing 9.2.7 caused it and I'm not doing something else wrong is still nice to know. Thanks for all you do and this amazing mod.

I've encountered another, possibly related issue A few days ago, while it would take a bit, the scan would still complete, but today the scan will hang at 99% and just sit there.

Hello together.

Is it possible that we have a specific realm or realmpool issue with the freezes? I'm thinking of database states of items that may not be processed that only occur on some realms until those auctions expire or perhaps the realms are restarted ? Just an assumption!

The searches work for me on the realm pools in Germany of Antonidas, Blackmoore and Thrall.

It doesn't work for since last tuesday (08.11.2022) on the realm pools in Germany of Blackhand and Baelgun, but it mostly worked before.

Is there an already integrated way to evaluate logs based on the differences?

I have encountered the same problem however the scan never starts now. Hangs at 10% and never changes. 15 minutes in and nothing. I have tried several times with the same results. Rescan produces what seems to be a random error notice that you can start a new scan in X minutes with just different times each time from under 10 minutes to over 24 minutes and sometimes the time will go up and other times down with no correlation to actual time between scan tries. Don't know if this part of a bigger problem or just me. Thanks

EDIT: Just tried again and scan started and finished quickly. Don't know what happened or like I said, maybe it was just me. Thanks

Can confirm that today the issue appears gone!

Open Collect tab, hit "scan", paused on 10% for 15-20 seconds (that was normal), and then it raced to 100% fairly quickly. I couldn't see a specific callout to the issue, maybe it means it was Blizzard-side, etc.

But it looks good again! I really missed having the easy way to buy Xmog. Thanks!

yeah stuck at 10% and then later at 99% .. even after 7min+++

Machou commented 1 year ago

Too, can you fix it please ? i love this addon :D

plusmouse commented 1 year ago

This is fixed (the latest iteration of the error) if you install the Auctionator alphas (will be in the normal Auctionator releases shortly, just waiting for it to finish building)

Machou commented 1 year ago

Sorry, but it's not fixed.

I have download latest version on GitHub (now 27 january 2023 - 3:42am)

I'm blocked 10%

Machou commented 1 year ago

@plusmouse you can check it please ? =)

plusmouse commented 1 year ago

Having it stuck on 10% for a while (1 minute low pop, 10-30 minutes high pop or peak times) is unfortunately normal, and using the replicate scan method is unavoidable for the tmog searches.

Machou commented 1 year ago

Ok, I've just waited 10 minutes, it's unlocked.

I hope another solution can be found! :p
