Pretty much every client side mod works just fine with Vanilla, this includes playing with others who don't have the mods installed.
Installing this one is a little different from regular mods because currently I have not yet published it on thunderstore, so R2ModMan doesn't have it in the list. You can still install it by following the steps in the readme here: https://github.com/AuriRex/GTFO_TheArchive#using-bepinex--r2mm
In R2ModMan you can filter mods in the Online
tab in the upper right corner with the Filter categories
button and selecting Client Mods
.
You also have to realize that there are mods in that list, that might give you an advantage (a bit cheat-y if you will), but you will have to be the judge of what you (and your friends) are okay playing with. Just don't go into public lobbies (on the main GTFO discord for example) with the cheat-y ones and you'll be fine.
Some of the mods available through R2ModMan may also provide similar things as TheArchive, if something clashes you can just turn it off.
Thank you for the reply!
I followed the guide to install and added some client mods on the side I hope that will not make some issue, I tried to see what are the mods currently inside to not make some conflict:
Can I disable the mods that give advantage in the game with the mod settings for example?
With R2ModMan do I have to play the Start Modded or Start Vanilla (I don't know if I will keep my progression etc)? sorry if that some dumb question, Im more used to Vortex or MO2 so Im a bit lost ahah
Sorry for the trouble and thank you very much for your help!
I don't think anything conflicts there, if something doesn't work in game just check the console/logs for errors and/or open another issue haha
In game Mod Settings only works for TheArchive and mods that integrate into that system, but currently there are none that do. TheArchive itself doesn't contain any features that I would consider cheat-y myself.
For other mods you'll just have to disable or uninstall them in R2ModMan before starting the game if you don't want them.
You want to press Start Modded
, the other button is for launching the game without any mods.
Progression is unaffected, it is saved online.
Some people would consider DropItem a bit risky as it does change balance around resources a bit, personally I wouldn't recommend using any item stacking / dropping stuff but that's up to you 👍
Thank you for the clarification about everything, that really helpfull!
I will probably try a game with DropItem and if that too much I will remove it, that a feature my friends and I actually wanted in the game and doesn't understand there is no drop item key for example when you want to trade tools.
Thank you again for your time and for making this modpack!😄
