Update on this: I re-saved the GIF, setting the frame handling method to "dispose" (so each frame is discarded and the new one drawn). Just needs some testing, but this should hopefully fix the problem.
EDIT: Tested on my iPhone 4. Seems to have fixed the issue. Tagging this as awaiting-release
Closing as this issue fixed in 0.9.7 which was released today
This has been confirmed on at least two iPhones. If you look at the loading GIF, instead of it being a smooth orange kind of "aurora" animation, it looks rather glitchy. These visual artifacts happen until the animation loops, then it briefly clears until it starts again

This should be easily fixable by changing the frame handling method in Photoshop
