Balancing - Mining materials exports #19470

Closed courierbravo closed 22 hours ago

Added the ability to sell off your mining materials for profit. All prices are relatively low, so it shouldn't mess up the balance of things too much. Consequentially, engineering can now sell its gold, silver, and platinum to operations. Also, I removed market elasticity from this materials list. Just to make things far more consistent, and remove any potential and needless frustration. Thank you to @BoomerThor for helping me through this!

Balancing between materials is largely based off my own experience, I've been tracking my in game yields and referencing them. The specific prices were set as so: The smelted materials are in a price scaling that's partially at a whim, but relative to the value between them "in real life." However consideration was taken though. For example, aluminum and lead are worth slightly more than steel because you get so much more hematite and carbon. But they're still base, common materials and shouldn't be worth much.

Then, I just doubled the price per sheet of material for all compressed materials. The compressed materials are processed in a 2:1 ratio, where smelting is just 1:1.

Finally, I decided to set them so low per sheet, to ensure that you can only get a few hundred credits per stack of a material. No more than 1000 per stack, except for Phoron and Plasteel (legacy rates from the current system that honestly, I just like the idea of. Sure, why not have them be super valuable.) A good miner, or god forbid a good team of miners, with even just the smallest bit of support from the machinists or R&D can produce absolutely insane yields. I want the profit of those yields, if sold, to feel worthwhile to the miner, but not insanely high as to break immersion because "Oh cool, operations has a morbillion credits and can buy the SCC."

Isn't the main purpose of mining to provide money to the megacorporation? OOC purpose being providing resources to workshop and science. After that, it should be decent profits right? I don't see the issue, it's already in the server that you can do 'deliveries' for tens of thousands of credits, which miners can already do. On top of normal bounties which is another tens and tens of thousands of credits?

I don't understand if this is a criticism of the PR or something else

Can you possibly restate this? I cant tell what point you're trying to convey.

Was in response to matt saying testmerge incase people get funnny with it. Basically saying I don't think anyone will, and even if they "abuse" it for tons of credits I felt like it's mining's purpose to get tons of materials for credits anyway. Regardless just a random shout, I don't have any issues with the PR.

People never get funny during balance testmerges, I think it can go in personally; feel free to quote this message when we'll nerf it down the line after some random miner generates the GDP of a planet in a shift
