https://github.com/AusBIGG/abis/blob/master/spec/07-profiles.adoc - brief explanation on what a "profile" is will be good. The Preamble section stated that profile definition is "the technical expression of ABIS as a standard that inherits from other standards" but this could be expanded further.
https://github.com/AusBIGG/abis/blob/master/spec/03-intro.adoc is a good place to state the scope of data in ABIS in terms of the scientific domain - i.e. biodiversity data and what is broadly included. Suggested draft text below, which could be edited into the existing second paragraph. Might be good to expand on the "associated info" bit, as discussed.
"Biodiversity data refers to species occurrences (observations of species at a place and a time) and associated information, including occurrences of both common and rare species, and native and naturalised or feral species."
