Over the ESaaS indexes, create a reverse proxy (nginx) with instrumentation (splunk). Two versions of the API:

public, GET only
authenticated, HTTPS, firewalled - for use by workers (PUT POST DELETE etc)

After speaking with a sales guy and pre-sales engineer at a big ESaaS vendor, we still need to do this with them (they don't do it for us). Surprising, given pivot to ELK and all that.

For this ticket, we want two nodes:

ES (or ESaaS from a vendor, more likely)
Nginx + splunk

@mmck-dto, where are the docs for the splunk config? Assume Common Logging Format (CLF) web server logs would be sufficient, or should I be scrubbing the last octet from the IP addresses (etc. - datensparsamkiet)?
