I tried to fix the markdown code so it makes the text bold. Thank you.

Thanks for jumping with the help. In this case, though, the backslashes are correct. I want it to be bold AND show the asterisks and in order to do that in markdown, I need the first asterisk for bold, and the others just for the content.
