Format dates unambiguously #48

the date should be formatted as text (e.g. 10 Sep 2009) rather than just numbers (10-09-2009) as I have a personal preference for avoiding the possibility of misinterpretation of month and date that can be caused by the convention used by Americans for reading numerical dates (9/11 is not 9th November) - but not necessary to make this change right now

I think I'll timebox this issue and pick it up this sprint. If the libraries we use make it hard to use an unambiguous date format, I'll just add "(dd-mm-yyyy)" somewhere near the date
