Sebastian great to hear ! Why not start with a Hypothesis lesson but cast it in the broader context of open annotation. Down the road we expect to be able to mine Crossref event data to determine what forms of attention a DOI-referenced work has received, and build a lesson around that. that future lesson would snap into your Hyothesis lesson rather nicely, don't you think?
I've got a query into CrossRef on getting access to event data, so I'll keep an eye out for when annotations start to be available.
Cool. The Event data API is completely open, right? We wouldn't need to handle API keys/permissions once the annotation data are included.
It is still in testing, but I think the plan is to make it open like the DOI metadata API.
Do you have in mind separating this from Hypothes.is? If so how?
If we "just" want to use Hypothes.is, I now understand the API (via Jon Udell's library) well enough to be able to write a lesson that allows you to do some cool thing via annotations -- e.g. search for them, across multiple docs and add (e.g. add tags) them programmatically.
