Recommendations for the list of compatible apps #816

Hello, friends!

I have some recommendations for the list of compatible apps on the wiki. I wished to clone the wiki repository and create a pull request, but it seems this is not feasible at present without involving a more complicated solution such as having Markdown files in the repository which are then synced with the wiki via GitHub Actions, etc.

Here are the proposals so far:

For existing items, as inspired by my list from above, perhaps we could add links to websites for all items.

To all users of Auto Dark Mode: please submit any applications that you have found to work well with the automatic theme switching!

Thank you!

Screen Recorder would be Snipping Tool or Screenbits, which costs money. Most people will stick to OBS if they need the feature set.

archive manager will be Nanazip in the future.

For the list: we will think about how we will manage this in the future. Thanks for your work, really appreciating it. Great contribution to the community. I personally don't like Apps which needs a restart for theme switch. So I wouldn't call them compatible.

Thank you for your reply, Armin! I love the application you have built here together with Sam and other fellow contributors, and I hope I can find more ways to contribute to this community in the future.

I agree with you regarding the applications which require a restart for the theme switch. I removed them from my list – if any future readers are interested, they can check out the version history of the original post.

I've updated the wiki list. Furhter things will be considered.

Thank you kindly, Armin!

From my original post, I removed the items you have added to the wiki, and left the ones that weren't included for further consideration.

I will update the list in the OP whenever I or other people who comment on this issue discover new applications that work with the automatic theme switching.

Nice, your list updates makes it easy to keep track of apps. Thanks :)

I found this repository containing a list of WinUI 3 apps, some of which could be interesting for our wiki list. The few I looked into were all WIPs at the moment and not completely usable, though. Even so, I'd say it is worth following as it seems to be updated weekly.
