deselecting nodes before leaving the tab is not working #1586

Describe the bug As a fix for this issue #1532 the selected blocks are deselected before leaving the active tab as you can see here in this commit

but this is not working any more and the initial issue of deleting selected block is back

Version: 1.28.23 windows 11 google chrome
