xkcd suggestion for simplification #1

Hi @HTenkanen

This is a great course, we briefly met at CASA but didn't get the chance to share a beer as the pandemic interrupted normal socialising.

Couple of suggestions for this section:

Coordinate precision

xkcd and their reference on coordinate precision, i come back to this often when importing data is to check precision is appropriate to the data to ensure i'm not making the computer work harder than it has to.

Handling invalid geometries

This is another step I find I almost always need to do with polygon data that i want to use with spatial operators, perhaps supplying invalid geoms is a UK thing ?! ;). For me that's normally part of the ETL (which might be useful concept for students to be aware of). Apologies if you have this in another section, was skimming through after Googling to nudge my memory

Hi @dominijk! And nice that you reached out! 🙂 Both of these are very good suggestions to include in the materials (i.e. they are not covered yet). I think we will find a place for these in the book in the first place and then the course pages can be updated accordingly.

Greetings to CASA! It's indeed a shame that the covid has messed up things, but I hope I can pop by at some point when visiting London the next time (hopefully not in too distant future 🤞🏻)
