Changes:

Completely removed jQuery.
Use querySelector() and getBoundingClientRect() to do most of the work. I believe this breaks IE7 support.

Remaining:

Browser testing. Chrome 17.0.949.0 and Safari 5.1.1 seem fine. I think I still see the system scrollbars in Firefox 7.0.1.
Still need to emulate mouseenter and mouseleave.
