Multi Day Camp Checkin #131

Open bretterer opened 8 years ago

I think by now, most WordCamp's have multiple days. Currently, as far as I know, the attended button is an on/off. I would love to see a way to specify how many days and what days the camp is and have a checkin for each day. This way during the reporting of camp's we can get a count of attendees for each day and a total attendee count.

Do you intend on requiring all of your attendees to pass through registration each day?

bretterer commented 8 years ago

We do.

mikelking commented 8 years ago

At WCNYC we do not.

All i am suggesting here is some flexibility of the system to allow for multi-day checkins. We like to know the number of attendees each day.

mikelking commented 8 years ago

Hey I am not arguing against. We typically estimate the second day based on known room capacities and the attendance of the first day. But works for us wouldn't necessarily work for others. Was just trying to understand the question.

Ya... no worries at all... I think having a solid number for each day is a great idea for going back to sponsors with for the following year. for us being able to have a solid number instead of "somewhere around xxx" gets us a litter better response from them.... Just a though here

I don't think that I could convince 600 attendees to wait on line a second day, plus we typically reduce our registration from 5 tables to one on the following day... Add to that the open access of our current venue it would be difficult as we don't offer a day 2 swag... Of course if you had a more restricted entrance, then you could probably do more.

We too don't take attendance on both days, but we have time and again been asked if someone could buy just a one day ticket and we do tend to have lesser people attend the second day. So having such would allow us to have two day tickets and also may be manage are variable costs better (for e.g. order less food if lesser people attended the second day)

thumps up for this idea

A temporary work around: if counting for the two days is essential.

Create three tickets: 1) Both Days 2) Day-1 Only 3) Day-2 Only

Both days : Users only need to Check-in once.

If checked in with this ticket on1st day; we assume that assume that they will / have also attended the. 2nd day.

If checked in with this ticket on 2nd day; then even after buying both days ticket, we can safely concluded the attendee only came on 2nd day.

===

Each day ticket: Anyways they will have to checkin.

This setup is valid of the entry is directed to attendees only with valid Event ID is used during checkin. Thus auto validating Both Days ticket holder can attend 2nd day.

NOTE: There must be checks or user guide to clearify that : When issuing a Both days ticket during checkin; the attendee is responsible to carry the issued Event ID along with on the 2nd day also.

Or if there is a checkin policy that the Event OD duplicate only issued against valid of proof.

DISCLAIMER: This workaround is only feasible if you have a two day event. More more days events the combinations of ticketa can get confusing for the prospective attendee.
