FWIW the trim_string() method is lifted directly from my plugin and my plugin (I) lifted it directly from WooCommerce. Credit where credit is due.

Thanks for this, @thomasplevy ! Sorry I didn't get to it earlier in the week. It looks good. I try hard not to ship on Friday afternoons, but I will try to get this merged and deployed early next week.
