Video Blocks nested in column blocks, when set at 3 or more columns, display uneven thumbnails when published #13168

benchilcote commented 5 years ago

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Open a new page and add a column block with 3 columns
  2. Add a single video block within each column
  3. Insert a video from the media library into each video block
  4. Publish the page and view it
  5. Grab and drag the edge of the browser window to see the thumbnails adjust

What I expected

I expect to see all three videos appear with the same height.

What happened instead

When loaded, the first two thumbnails are identical in height but the third thumbnail is shorter. A similar effect happens when single video blocks are nested within 4 columns.

What happens when you run the same test with a Core video block and with Jetpack's VideoPress feature disabled?

benchilcote commented 5 years ago

I tried uploading new videos using several different sequences:

Each time, I could not reproduce the issue. The issue did persist with the test video file I uploaded. I noticed the video block where I uploaded the original text video does not have the same block options as the other. Here is a video to show this:

Talk about odd... I tried on the user site to add the videos using the Video block, not the Videopress block and found that after adding each video (which showed up as a link only), if I click the undo button, the videos display properly and evenly. I've given this to the user as a workaround for now.

@tanjoymor Those do not appear to be regular column blocks. Do you experience the same issue with a core Video block (not added by any plugin like Coblocks)?
