Steps to Reproduce

Image Carousel does not display either the Like button or Sharing buttons when they are enabled in Marketing>Sharing Buttons>Media.

• enable Image Carousel in Settings > Media
• enable sharing and like buttons for media in Marketing>Sharing Buttons>Media.
• insert Gallery Block in post or page
• insert images
• enable sharing buttons and like button
• preview page
• result below

Hmm, I don't believe this is a bug - the like and sharing button show when carousel is disabled because when clicking the image, you're taken to the image attachment page (if that option is set). The carousel works a bit differently and adds an overlay to the existing page.

Although I could see people wanting to see how many "likes" an individual photo got, I'm not sure adding the like/sharing buttons to the carousel would be easily possible or something we'd want to pursue. Happy to have another opinion!

The jetpack image carousel superseded image attachment pages, which have a lot of idiosyncrasies, and vastly improved the Gallery experience for both the poster and the site visitor.

Their comments on this include: Current site settings:

• Image Carousel is disabled in Media Settings and “Show comments in carousel” is unchecked.
• Commenting on the last three images (summer fruits) is disallowed on each image in the Media Library.

• Each image Attachment page in the Gallery respects its individual media-specific comment setting.
• Links between image Attachment pages display in the order they were uploaded, not their display order, so Attachment page links are not contiguous. (Expected behavior.) This was “corrected” by rearranging the order in the “Edit Gallery” window.
• When browsing Attachment pages, the two screenshot images above were also included in the Attachment page links, even though they are not a part of the Gallery itself.
