My Jetpack: better outline Backup errors in the VaultPress backup card #35593

Open jeherve opened 6 months ago

Impacted plugin

Jetpack, Backup, None / Other

Quick summary

The VaultPress backup card in My Jetpack does not show any warnings or clear Call to Action when the backup feature is not available on a site with a backup plan.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install the Jetpack plugin on your site, as well as another standalone plugin such as Boost.
  2. Connect the site to WordPress.com and purchase a Security plan.
  3. Disable the Jetpack plugin.

A clear and concise description of what you expected to happen.

I would expect the My Jetpack card for backups to show me a warning; I bought a backup feature but cannot use it because I disabled the plugin providing the features for backups to work.

What actually happened

I see information about my backups, and a secondary button saying "Activate", but no red warning of any kind. Maybe the problem should be made more prominent?

@jboland88 / @eeeeevon13 - I see we have this in three boards. I'm going to remove it from the Backup board for now, but if a design is determined and Backup needs to implement it or support MarTech, feel free to re-introduce it or reach out to me.

I am moving this to a subtask in the larger My Jetpack roadmap. Going to remove it from the MarTech maintenance board for now
