See Jurassic Tube instructions here to setup the environment.
Enable Keyring_Service_Google_Photos::IS_PICKER_ENABLED
You can manually try the endpoints https://_ID_.jurassic.tube/wp-json/wpcom/v2/external-media/list/google_photos or use the changes found on https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/40087 to check them.

The flow should be the same as of WoA sites with features on.

To test on WoA, go to the Plugins menu on a WordPress.com Simple site. Click on the "Upload" button and follow the upgrade flow to be able to upload, install, and activate the Jetpack Beta plugin. Once the plugin is active, go to Jetpack > Jetpack Beta, select your plugin, and enable the add/new-gp-external-media-endpoint branch.

To test on Simple, run the following command on your sandbox:

bin/jetpack-downloader test jetpack add/new-gp-external-media-endpoint

Jetpack plugin:

The Jetpack plugin has different release cadences depending on the platform:

WordPress.com Simple releases happen semi-continuously (PCYsg-Jjm-p2).
WoA releases happen weekly.
Releases to self-hosted sites happen monthly. The next release is scheduled for none scheduled (scheduled code freeze on undefined).
