I agree; particularly when trawling searches for tweets around popular events or popular hashtags, retweets are just noise.
I agree too, probably excluding them is the best solution. Is possible to exclude retweets by appending "+exclude:retweets" to the search query. Maybe we should still including retweets in the "By User" and "To User" tabs?
Looking at my saved Twitter searches, I've also used -filter:retweets
.
What do all of you think about 9b9e998d67c2ea2b454e73a4fcd018db8cbbba53? do you think is safe for merge?
To test this, I search a twitter handle first in the "all" tab and then in the by user tab. In the results in the all tab, it shouldn't appear retweets, in by user it should.
Seemed to work fine and it's a simple changed, so merged it in.
Thanks all!
Someone mentioned a while ago that retweets should either be excluded from results, or they should be marked more clearly as retweets.
Personally I think removing them from results makes more sense. Thoughts?
