Feature: Create Folders/Lists with unsubscribed Podcasts #925

What problem does this address?

I want to be able to create Lists/Folders of Podcasts that I am not subscribed to. This could be useful in multiple cases.

These things are especially useful for Fiction Podcasts that usually only get listened to once and mostly don't get any later updates, so syncing them can be wasteful.

What is your proposed solution?

Being able to make Folders/Lists that include Podcasts that I am not subscribed to. Just to have them on the homescreen/accessible quickly. This means I don't need to subscribe to many Podcasts to simply save them for later, or keep them after having listened to them. This would mean that those Podcasts that I don't actually to listen at the moment don't need to synced at all and can be handled just like Podcasts I am not subscribed to (because I am not).

Did you search for existing feature suggestions?

You can achieve this by using Filters and Folders. Create a separate New Releases filter (or edit the existing one) and select only the podcasts that you want to see new episodes of. And don't select the podcasts you don't wanna keep up2date with.

Then create a folder with all those podcasts you don't wanna keep up2date with, but still subscribed to. New episodes just won't show up in your filter and you can still view them by opening the folder.

But doesn't this mean every time you subscribe to a new podcast, you'd have to add it to your suggested filter? And then if you forget you'd miss episodes until you triaged it. I would never do that because I don't want to have to spend so much work manually keeping my filters up to date. I think the OP's solution is much more effective.

I love this but the only problem is that filters aren't on desktop and that's the main way I use pocketcasts. :(
