Printing From Markdown Preview Print Unformatted Markdown #279

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a Markdown note in Simplenote
  2. Click on "Preview" button
  3. Select Note > Print or use ⌘+P
  4. The unformatted, raw markdown version is printed

What I expected

Since the preview was open, it's expected that the preview version is printed.

What happened instead

The unformatted, plain text Markdown version is printed instead.

How does one get the electron version of the Mac app where this feature works? I went to the Simplenote website and clicking on "Download for Mac" brings up the Mac store which I'm assuming installs the native version of the Mac app.

A user raised this again (internal ref: 2294432-zen):

This question is about printing markdown notes. I wrote up a list of things in markdown and when i go to print it instead of printing the markdown preview version it prints the markdown source version.

How do i get the preview version to print when using the native application.

In this case the user is ok with printing from the web as an alternative, but the current behavior does cause some confusion (that sense that you're just missing the correct steps to print).

Confirmed this is still an issue as of version 1.10.0 beta.

A new case here: 4844263-zd-woothemes The user is on Mac OS 12.2.1 , but didn't share the Simplenote version. I can confirm I have the same problem in Simplenote v2.17 (latest).

Recommended they try the Electron version mentioned above or the web version.

I also had this problem today. Mac OS 12.3.1 and Simplenote for Mac 2.17.

On Mac I can't print the markdown preview, just the plain text. It would be really helpful to be able to print the preview.
