Hi Adrian. It's great to hear you've found Blockbase useful, and that you're trying out Block Canvas as well!
The main reason Block Canvas isn't listed in the repository is that it's more of a starter theme and not designed to be user-facing. It's intended as a base theme to start other block themes from, rather than being used as a parent theme. However, it would be great to hear how you use it, and maybe we should consider submitting it to the official repository.
As a minimum, we could add a link to Block Canvas in the main readme of this repo, to help signpost themers in the direction of a base block theme.
@mikachan Personally, I like to work with parent themes (instead of boilerplates), so
For block-canvas. Maybe this could just be the "invisible" core parent directly integrated into WordPress. I think this might just have the exact amount of templates you always need (w/o header/footer, blank, one header, one footer, no variations…)
For my projects, Blockbase already has toooo many variations (multiple headers variants... ;).
Thanks for sharing how you use parent themes.

I like this idea! Have you tried the Create Block Theme plugin? This has a 'create blank theme' option which creates a theme that is very similar to Block Canvas.
I will look into the plugin. I'm already using a mixed experience, editing as much as possible with FSE and then using the existing exporter to grab template files ;)
Hello,
I'm currently using Blockbase as a parent theme for all of my new projects, but this still has to much "bload" ;) (template parts, ... I don't need).
Wasn't aware of block-canvas, which is even more basic.
It would be nice to have this in the official repository, so I would get updates automatically.
Thanks
Adrian
