Cubic theme: Featured images not displaying in social network previews

Our customer reported that their posts, when shared to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, don't produce featured images in the post previews on those social networks. The customer reported that this is a recent change, although when I reviewed their Twitter and Facebook profiles, it seems like the featured images haven't rendered for some time.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Facebook or Twitter to test whether link previews include featured images
2. Paste one of the post links into the post window in either service and wait for the post preview to render
3. Notice that featured images do not display.

What you expected to happen

When shared on social networks, the posts' featured images should display as part of the post previews.

What actually happened

When I reviewed the customer's Twitter and Facebook pages, I noticed that featured images haven't displayed since at least 2018. Take a look here:

When I ran the more recent links through Facebook's Debug tool, I noticed this error:

Provided og:image URL, http://frankfurt-expat.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/img_8432.jpg?w=900 could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.
