Domains: Transfer domain pricing/messaging is cramped #36475

On this screen, when you've started the process of transferring a domain, we show messaging at the top right with pricing that changes based on the domain being transferred and "One additional year of domain registration included in plans".

This area is quite crowded with a small font, making it hard to grok what's happening at a glance. Some design thinking or experimentation could be used to improve the readability of the content.

To get to this screen, go to Manage -> Domains -> Add Domain -> Already own -> Transfer -> and type in a domain name.

I think this whole screen could use some love. It doesn't match the layout and feeling of the transfer/map screen directly before it, and it's quite a jarring difference. The Renews in one year at: X appearing only after a domain is entered causes an abrupt shift in the elements on the screen since it pushes the Here's some quick ideas to clean it up a bit:

The last one looks nice, but would cause some issues on mobile and/or long translations and domain names. I'm leaning towards the second option above at the moment.

I think the copy could be cleaned up as well. Can any of it be removed or pared down? Does it provide any additional information we didn't learn from the previous screen?

@danhauk, thanks for the designs! I totally agree this screen (and the mapping confirmation one that's very similar to it) needs some love. I like the mockups you've provided - the more vertical approach makes more sense.

I'd say yes, it's needed - to provide the context for the action. Users seem to be confused about mapping vs transfers. It is possible we link directly to this screen from some flows in Calypso as well, but I might be mistaken.

One thing I'd like to point out about this screen (and the mapping one) is what happens when you enter a domain that's available. An upsell is shown like this:

How would you recommend to position it within the mocks?
