Here is the receipt for Payments:

There are multiple things wrong with it:

Just to note, when I reported this originally I was mainly talking about the version of the receipt visible inside Calypso (e.g. clicking the "View receipt" links at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing). Although yes, it appears the emailed version of the receipt has some problems too.

Here's a screenshot of the Calypso version of a recurring payments receipt, pointing out some of the problems and confusing aspects there: recurring-payments-receipt

The WordPress.com branding at the top seems especially confusing since it makes it look like they bought something from Automattic rather than from the site owner. Also, these receipts show up as WordPress.com receipts when filtering the receipts by source (via the "All apps" dropdown at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing).

Donation receipt is not showing the primary domain, but the internal wordpress.com URL: https://d.pr/i/cVuUBG

A report here in 28561930-hc (which was a while back before I knew this GH issue existed). User concerned about the default site address showing instead of their primary domain.

Related issue in 29932954-hc

The user is selling a book on their site, using the Payments block; it is a one time purchase. However, they pointed out that the email receipt uses subscription language - "You've subscribed to Book Order" is the subject line of the email, as well as the line items in the receipt body.

I think another problem with the emailed version of the receipt shown here is that it's not 100% clear that the subscription will renew. The combination of "1 month subscription" and "Expires: June 12, 2020" kind of makes it sound like everything ends after one month, when in fact it will actually auto-renew. For me, "monthly subscription" rather than "1 month subscription" might be a bit more clear.

This came up (tangentially) in pNPgK-5uo-p2.

It's worth pointing out that there are two emails that go out here: The main receipt email (from the top of this post) and the one shown in https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/43183#issuecomment-853278467.

Presumably a fix here could involve merging the two into a single receipt email with the best properties of both.

Had another chat (33287846-hc) where the user is selling items that only require one-time payment, and wanted to change the email working from "subscription" to something more appropriate.

Had another report where donation receipts are showing the default WordPress.com subdomain as the site address instead of the site's primary domain.

Here is a reoccurrence of receipts showing the default WordPress.com subdomain as the site address instead of the site's custom domain.

Just adding on here that we've offered to notify this user when the issue is resolved.

Another report: 5243165-zen

This customer wants the primary domain to show on the receipt and not the .wordpress.com subdomain. It's confusing for customers as the subdomain isn't shown anywhere on the site and isn't similar to the primary domain either. The customer would like to be notified when this is resolved.

The issue for the payments block receipt email saying "thanks for subscribing" (as seen in https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/43183#issuecomment-853278467) is https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/54829

Another one on 8104427-zd-a8c

They have an Atomic site and they didn't want to display the site address they currently have because it was from another site they had previously. And, it's not possible to edit an Atomic site address like on Simple sites.
