Desktop App: Followed Sites stream is not updated after following/unfollowing a new site

Steps to reproduce:

1. In the Desktop App, go to Reader > Followed Sites.
2. Search for and follow a new site.
3. Click on "Followed Sites".
4. Look for the site followed in step 2.

Result: the newly followed site does not appear in the Followed Sites stream unless you close and re-open the app.

This was reported during WPDesktop 6.4.0 beta testing:

– An odd thing with the Followed Sites feed is that I had to force restart for it to accept the actions of “unfollowing/following new sites and showing all of a site’s posts”. In one instance, the most recent post that was shown for a site was in April 2020.

I also confirmed this on the Desktop App. Following a new site does not show it on the sidebar, nor do the count for sites increase Version 6.9.0-beta1
