Description

As proposed in pekYwv-2u4-p2#comment-2017, let's update the CTA as follows:

Before After
Image Image

See the Figma file: Tv3pYqA3EcRfiXC31IxrXE-fi-1610:4708#528351241

Copy

As suggested by @autumnfjeld: ① Select some patterns for your homepage. ② Style it up with custom colors and font pairings. ③ Bring your site to life with some content.

No change for the mobile version of the CTA.

Keep the original image for now, since the new image has not yet been finalized.

@lucasmendes-design could you point me where in Figma I can find this version for the CTA? Thanks!

taipeicoder commented 1 year ago

@autumnfjeld @lucasmendes-design should we keep the existing copy for the mobile version of the CTA?

should we keep the existing copy for the mobile version of the CTA?

I think so since we don't have plans to develop the mobile version.

Hi @michaelpick @fcoveram 👋🏼,

could you help us with this copy here?

:)

Hi @lucasmendes-design. Sounds like you chatted with Francisco about this. He doesn't currently have GitHub access, but here's a reminder of what he shared by way of proposed revisions, all of which I think work well:

Thanks both! I've updated the issue accordingly.

Just sharing my thoughts on the step "Bring your site to life with some content.", my interpretation is that "some" here means "a part" and when reading it is like I just need "a part" not "all" of the content to complete the design process.

Probably it's just my interpretation 🙂

@michaelpick @autumnfjeld would appreciate your thoughts on this!

Thanks for flagging that @miksansegundo ! Yikes. I should have double/triple checked my own suggestions. In general, my opinion is that the word “some” doesn’t sound great in  any UI copy.   It’s an odd informal word, sounds like a filler word.  We should try to sound more precise.   I’ll have a look and make a proposal.  So I clearly didn't spend enough time on proof reading my own suggestions.

@michaelpick Does this sound better to you?

  1. Select patterns to create your homepage layout.
  2. Style it up with custom colors and font pairings.
  3. Bring your site to life with your own content.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!

I think with UX copy there's always a line between appearing approachable (and even conversational) on the one hand, and making sure we're as clear and precise as possible on the other. Wherever the former butts into the latter, it's a good sign we need to tighten things up!

I like those solutions, @autumnfjeld! Thanks for reworking those <3
