Feature Request: Add Filter to Themes Showcase to show only themes we support #85671

cuemarie commented 11 months ago

What

Add a search filter or view that shows only themes that are supported by WordPress.com.

Why

When customers come to support for help with third party themes, we often advise that they can receive more help from us in the future if they switch to a theme we support.

However, there's no way to show them only those themes in the showcase. The closest option is to point them to "Recommended" but to clarify that anything there labeled "Partner" is not supported by us.

Here's an example use case, from: 7472023-zen

Lastly, if you would like more direct support from WordPress.com Happiness Engineers on your site, then switching to a theme that we make here in-house would be the best way to receive that!

  • The theme Hevor looks like a pretty similar place you could start, as one idea!
  • Otherwise, any Free or Premium theme in the Recommended tab of the Themes showcase will be supported by our engineers.

How

Add "Supported by WordPress.com" to the list of Feature filters:

This would allow HEs to share a direct link to that filtered showcase search when supporting customers.

@Copons I think this would be accomplished in effect with an author view. Which would also be potentially valuable for Partner themes.

@ianstewart Connecting this feature request to the related design task, which is already in our backlog: https://github.com/Automattic/dotcom-forge/issues/2516
