Media library broken in support sessions #91764

Open devicenull opened 3 weeks ago

devicenull commented 3 weeks ago

Quick summary

Related to #87642, support sessions cannot see media library items on private blogs. The ultimate reason behind this is public-api isn't forwarding over the necessary headers/cookies/etc to the files endpoint. I'm not clear on the best way to correct that.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start a support session for a user who has a private simple blog
  2. Open the media library

What you expected to happen

Media items should show

What actually happened

Grey squares show up instead.

This is happening with the user's site as reported in 8325428-zd-a8c. I let them know to view the Media Library in WP-Admin as the images do appear there, but not in Calypso view.

This is specific to support sessions. If users are reporting it it's an entirely different issue.

Thank you, @devicenull. What are the next steps here? Should we assign this to someone or add it to some board? Thank you.

I'm not really sure - I don't have a good sense of who would be able to fix this.

@klimeryk, @AtrumGeost, is this something you or someone else in your team could take a look at? Thanks a bunch!

👋 The folks working on it are not from our team, but adding them here for awareness of the issue 👍 cc @jmdodd and @brandonpayton
