Legacy sharing buttons rendering as unordered list #94456

Closed metabreakr closed 1 month ago

Quick summary

Tested with both Assembler and Twenty Twenty Three themes, one simple and another Atomic, the legacy sharing buttons render as an unordered list, which I noted here: p1726087406182609-slack-C03JUG3KMBN

Steps to reproduce

Using an FSE theme, create a new blog post. Ensure that sharing buttons (e.g. Facebook) are turned on under Tools → Marketing → Sharing Buttons: https://wordpress.com/marketing/sharing-buttons/

Note: in my specific instances, the single post template was edited, however that didn't seem to be a problem earlier when creating these sites.

What you expected to happen

I expected the legacy sharing buttons to render as actual buttons.

What actually happened

The legacy sharing buttons rendered as an unordered list:

Available workarounds?

Yes, easy to implement

If the above answer is "Yes...", outline the workaround.

Use the newer sharing button block in FSE. It's worth noting that Reblog/Like is not available in this block, so getting the same styling requires some additional work.
