a simple tool to import settings from another freepto would make it simpler to upgrade. Some ideas:

copy ~/.gnupg/*ring.gpg
copy ~/.purple/otr* (and maybe accounts.xml, too)
all "visible" directories inside home (those who do not begin with a dot)
