Abstract

We want to hold an informative and interactive face-to-face event in Spanish, in order to build loyalty among Neo users in Latin America and to attract new members to our community.

Proposal Information

Description

Name of the event: Talking about Neo Latin America

Our proposal is to hold an informative and interactive face-to-face event in Spanish in the country of Venezuela, in the city of Carupano, in order to retain Neo users in Latin America and attract many more new members to our community.

The following 5 topics will be presented at the event:

What is Neo?

Neo and gas tokens

Main features of neo

Eco support

Neo technology

These presentations will be totally interactive, since any participant will be able to raise their doubts during them.

Motivation

I am the official community manager of Neo in Spanish, that is why I was able to notice a lot on the social networks and in the forums the great potential and interest that the Hispanic community has, in addition to that what motivated me was knowing that many people want to know about Neo, but there isn't much official content and that's why I think the event would be a great opportunity to include Spanish-speakers and thus give way to include more Latin America and create more information in Spanish.

Goals

Our measurable goal is to have about 150 people attend

Why ?

Well, because if these people manage to learn about Neo and see its potential, they can invest what would help and add value to the Neo ecosystem.

In addition, this would help the growth of communities in social networks and to have a better presence as a brand since we would be being considered and taking Spanish-speakers into consideration.

Deliverables & Roadmap

Specify deliverables in detail, including the following info for each:

Deliverables Verifiability

How would the community be able to verify that the promised deliverables (or milestones) were successfully achieved? For each deliverable/milestone, add supporting info on how it can be verified by the community.

7 The topics already designated will begin

With time in between to ask

8 The draw will take place

And it will be verified that they have followed the rules

About You / Your Organization

Short-Bio

I am a lover of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, a responsible and hard-working person.

I have experience in the area of digital marketing, writer and community manager.

Portfolio of Projects / Past Experience

I have worked on several cryptographic projects

Here my experience 👇🏼

At lofidefi I worked as a community manager and social media manager, I was also in charge of translating all the content from English to Spanish.

Project link: lofidefi

I also worked as a volunteer in the following projects:

Tresleches finance

NekiToken

And I currently work at Neo as a community manager / Social media manager.

I really like the Neo ecosystem and this job has made me learn a lot of new things.

_Risk assessment –

Identify possible risks and develop strategies to minimise risks :

Some risks are that people do not know how to invest

The strategy would be:

Have a small group of Moderators to help people in any situation.

(invest, find the white paper, etc.)

Before, it was a risk that the pre-established number of participants did not attend

*But after analyzing it, it will not be a risk, since without advertising or marketing, just mentioning it to colleagues in the city who have interests in cryptocurrencies, about 70 said that they would love to attend an event of this type

I will make sure that enough people come anyway, because at the 120-150 that will be invited I will ask them to confirm if they will attend in a Google form.

Also, I will make sure that the ad campaigns have the right effect and I will personally invite some people who are also from the crypto community.

Why is this project important for the NEO ecosystem?

The key aspect behind this event is that I want to introduce NEO N3 network and ecosystem to people in Latin America. This is the first event I would like to do in professional manner, main point is getting more exposure which can result in gaining more people interested in the NEO ecosystem which will lead to getting more people involved in NEO, people like developers and investors. The importance of events like this is to get more people to use and develop/build new projects and start using the NEO network

Hi @josuhannymendez - Thanks for the proposal!

From NNT's perspective, the budget on this one is too high. For context, our team member Dylan (@rdgrabowski) has run dozens of events in Colorado and they have all been achieved for basically under $1,000. NGD is currently traveling the USA and hosting meet-ups at prestigious universities, and I believe the budget on each of those events to be considerably lower than what you are proposing here.

We understand your desire to host a premium event at scale, and I don't think that's something we're taking off the table as a possibility. However, perhaps it would help your cause to first validate there is enough interest in your area to host a 150 people by doing smaller meet-ups. It would also increase your chances of getting a big proposal like this endorsed and voted through with some smaller wins under your belt.

Consider modifying your proposal for an event of smaller scale and we'd be happy to take another look. Don't be discouraged, because we are very interested in supporting community building meet-ups around the world. Perhaps connect with Dylan for some tips one how to do something like this on a budget.

Hey Josu,

I want to start by saying, I’d love to see an event come to fruition in Venezuela but this proposed budget feels quite bloated.

As previously mentioned, I’ve hosted several events collectively at a fraction of the proposed cost. In our offline discussion, you said you've hosted several online events, but what about in-person events? Do you have any examples of another event of this scale you’ve hosted?

Regarding venue and a/v services. Are there other options for venues that might be more affordable? I’m not sure what it’s like in Carupano, but in Denver the facilities were typically not more than $500 to lease for special events. Further, in my experience the venue has provided the a/v equipment, and it wasn’t necessary to rent externally. Is it possible to identify a venue that include this equipment in their costs? Can you provide a list of options? If a large-scale venue costs $850 but also include a/v services, then it might make the cost seem more reasonable.

Do you plan to record a video of the presentation and share it online for other Spanish speakers across the globe? In my experience, the recordings of events I held reached more people online than those actually in attendance. If so, a line item should be added to the budget for a videographer. Preferably one that is also capable of post-production and editing capabilities. Perhaps you can find a team that will take photos and record the presentation.

Regarding marketing. This portion of the budget seems relatively high, and I found it difficult to locate websites associated with the entities outlined in the proposal. Do you have any statistics highlighting why this sort of marketing will succeed? What is the conversion rate of those who've seen the ads and will join the event because they saw the advertisement? Could you maybe whittle this list down to a local entity primarily focused on reaching the local population in Venezuela?

Who is the influencer you mentioned? Are they familiar with Neo or have contributed to the ecosystem? What is their reach? What type of content do they typically produce? There's a difference between an influencer who is very technically focussed, versus one that talks about 100's of coins a year.

The proposal makes it seem as if there will be around 70 people who have expressed interest in attending. I think 70 people attending the first meetup would be a very, very good turnout. Could you leverage this existing network to perform outreach? This would reduce the proposal by $3,150 alone.

The proposed fee for a graphic designer is very high, at $2,000 for a single event. For example, for all my events, I designed the invites for the Neo Colorado meetups using Canva. A designer to create a couple of graphics and posters can be found for a fraction of the cost. Can you research other graphic designers for a revised proposal?

Can you also provide more of an explanation on the differences between venue decoration, and the proposed banners/triptychs?

What will the catering service entail? A full meal? Is this necessary? It seems like this portion of the budget could be significantly reduced to provide basic drinks and snacks.

Regarding the Neo staff, you mentioned they have some experience in the ecosystem. Could you share what their roles are, what projects they've worked on, and what their professional jobs are? For example, are they a moderator, a dApp developer, or someone who's commented on Reddit posts a few times? It isn't easy to justify hiring someone to represent Neo, especially without knowing who they are or what they do.

Further, it seems a bit much to hire three moderators? Isn’t this a role you could assume as the host of the event?

Is a uniform necessary for the first event? Perhaps if this event is a success and you'd like to propose another, we could address a budget for getting shirts made for the presenters?

Regarding the rewards. While I think giving NEO draw/giveaway as rewards is a great way to onboard people, a $750 reward pool seems too large. For example, I’ve never distributed more than $100 in rewards to event participants. However, my largest event never exceeded 50 people, so with a 70+ person event, an argument can be made for such a large reward pool. Also, what is the difference between the $500 for winners and the $250 contest with templates?

Some things that might be able to be cut to remove the cost of the proposal as it stands could include:

I personally feel the following line items can be removed or greatly reduced:

Ultimately, I believe the necessities for an event include:

I hope you're not discouraged from hosting this event. I believe in local events and would love to see you succeed. But, I have to balance my experience with the expectations assumed in this proposal. GrantShares funding is finite, and as a DAO member, it's my role to ensure we can support as many community members as possible.

This is your first in-person event at this scale, and it's hard to justify such a large grant without a track record of previous events at a similar scale. I'd love to see this meetup become a reality, especially if you can attract 70 people! If successful, then I don't see why another proposal can't be put forth for a larger-scale event as proposed in this proposal as it currently stands.

I hope this response will help all parties get on board to make this vision a reality.

Agree 100% with @rdgrabowski. Great explanation, and great suggestions. 💯 👏

@josuhannymendez, besides the fact that you should think about all the points mentioned above ☝️, I encourage you to re-submit this proposal considering the suggestions and different cost structure.

If you think that re-submission is a viable option, then I suggest @josuhannymendez follow these steps:

  1. Withdraw this proposal (using the button only proposals' authors can see, here)
  2. Re-submit this proposal with an adapted scope. Don't forget to attach https://github.com/AxLabs/grantshares/issues/32 as a "related proposal" during the process of creating a new proposal again (Item 4, here).
