Even though I'm not a fan of tiktok I have to accept that it is a widely-used platform 😅 and I think this proposal is an interesting attempt to attract some attention to Neo.
I would target a more relaxed release schedule, e.g., one video per 2 days, instead of daily. This would stretch the projects lifetime a bit and give everyone more time to evaluate the outcomes. I'm saying this because it seems important to me that, if the effort shows success that there will not be a huge gap between the last video of this proposal and a possible next proposal that continues this work. Also quality is more important to me than quantity. But, since I'm getting old I can not tell what is appealing to TikTok users and what's not 😬
Hey @leiw5173, sorry for bugging you, but I always ask your opinion on things related to marketing 😉 What do you think about this proposal?
As much as I think we need to do more to bring attention to Neo, I'm very skeptical about this being an appropriate place to do it.
It's anecdotal, but I'm not a TikTok user, and I don't really know anyone in this industry who is. Considering that, and the average age of TikTok users, I'm not under the impression that it has much demographic overlap with this industry at all.
Perhaps I'm missing something by not frequenting the service directly, but I do occasionally see blockchain-related TikTok content bleed through onto my own timelines, such as Twitter and Reddit. When that happens, the content exclusively takes one of two forms:
From what I've seen so far, it strikes me as an actively hostile platform for Neo to market on. Even that isn't the case, I don't really see how we would find and convert new developers, stakeholders, or app users from it.
If there is evidence to the contrary for any of this, I'd love to hear it. Do you perhaps have any examples of successful blockchain marketing initiatives that you have seen happen on TikTok?
@csmuller I can't say I am a fan of TikTok either. But looking at the size it has become, it gives an opportunity for everyone to post quality content.
As for the posting times, the general suggestion of TikTok is to post anywhere between once and four times a day.
Taking the work needed, the budget applied, the algorithm, and other things into consideration, we came to posting a video a day as an ideal timeline.
Quality indeed is the most important thing, as it produces following and engagement, and that is what we aim at.
@EdgeDLT
-Almost a third of the US TikTok Populus are aged 20-29. -Crypto-related content scores 6 billion views on TikTok -Content relating to crypto hashtags scores in tens of billions of views
That much for the numbers.
Next to that, there is no perfect platform if you have that point of view. Absolutely every platform out there has good and bad content, pumps and dumps, and scams. It's to what you orient and base the following around. Binance is on TikTok, as a base example.
I like to see another approach, and that is, what is it that we can do within the space, with actual good and quality produced content.
-I'd also like to note out that we do not aim to fly high with this Proposal. After all, the budget is only $2000.
As for conversion and marketing, It's really no different than any other social media platform in that regard. All of them work by the same algorithm more or less, the only difference is the content.
Thanks, @csmuller to invite me to comment on this proposal.
I'm also not a fan of TikTok. But I can't deny that TikTok is one of the most popular platforms among young people. I think the reason why TikTok has a big amount of users is that people like short videos more at this age. Most people would rather watch short videos in their spare time than spend a long time viewing a long video. So in this platform, I think it has great potential.
Besides that, the videos they want to create are also what we lack and need. Here are some specific suggestions on the content:
-''NEO Informative'' - content created to onboard new users and community members, easing the understanding and logistics of NEO
What I wish in this part are the basic operation tutorials or introductions to the new users who are interested in Neo. For example, how to create a wallet, how to interact with dApps, etc.
-''Why NEO'' - content oriented around bringing up the facts on why the users should use NEO and why community members should join NEO
What I wish in this part are the advantages of Neo tech. For example, the Dual Token mechanism gives you free GAS to cover TX fee, or something like that.
-''NEO Ecosystem'' - content oriented around NEO Ecosystem, showing NEO successes and supporting initiatives
What I wish in this part are the current eco project introduction and the Grants programs like GrantShares, Grants, EcoBoost.
I notice the team is great from my point of view. They have designer, copy writer, and video producer. They are all solid fans of Neo. I believe they can do a great job and help Neo a lot.
The last tip I want to mention is the Neo
branding. I notice @Dimitrije25 used NEO
several times. Just to clarify, NEO
stands for the token of Neo, and Neo
stands for our project, Neo Smart Economy. Please make sure you type it right next time when you create videos or something else. Thanks!
@leiw5173 I agree with you. Shorts have become very popular.
Thank you for the content ideas, we will definitely work on that.
And thank you for the NEO-Neo explanation. We definitely want to use both, thanks for bringing up this useful tip. Appreciate it.
TikTok is available in over 150 countries and has over 1 billion active users globally, with ~700 million ACTIVE MONTHLY users [source from 2021, imagine the numbers in 2022...]
It's becoming a bit hard to simply avoid this social platform. Unfortunately. 😄
Some points to consider, from my side:
With that said, something to consider: I would not generate content explaining Neo, but rather hook builders with technology topics and curious things people should know about Neo... of course, at the end of the video (or at some given moment) the Neo brand should be mentioned/exposed.
Disclaimer: I'm not a marketing specialist, I'm not a social media fan, and I'm not a Tiktok junkie (just an occasional user 😅). I'm just a software engineer that gets curious about trends and new coding-related things. And I believe the younger generation is using Tiktok for this. 🤔
I would wait for more people to express their opinions here.
@gsmachado
Something that I'm still not sure: instead of starting a Tiktok channel from scratch, maybe partnering with an existing software engineer posting on "TechTok" niche would be the right approach? I don't know.
-Our goal at the moment is to set up Neo on TikTok and have content and the community as the foundation and build on that. The proposal idea comes to Neo having its own profile and content. Officially.
While it would also be great to partner up with existing communities and successful profiles, and generate success that way, that type of marketing costs, and at this moment we understand funds are not easy to come by, and that is the reason why we stated $2000 as the only budget for this Proposal, we want to start slow in the first month, and then go towards the bigger steps.
In my opinion NEO should focus on twitter ,
@ioannistsil What about simply reposting the content from Tiktok on Twitter? I assume, the content creation is the heavy lifting of this proposal, can we not just use it on Twitter (and/or TikTok)? Obviously, in the optimal case there is coordination between this project and the Neo marketing team.
Agree with @csmuller.
Let me mention some key people here. I'd like to hear their opinion on this proposal. 🤔 @deanragnarok, @Borisitwork, @leiw5173, and @DylanNNT.
@ioannistsil What about simply reposting the content from Tiktok on Twitter? I assume, the content creation is the heavy lifting of this proposal, can we not just use it on Twitter (and/or TikTok)? Obviously, in the optimal case there is coordination between this project and the Neo marketing team.
i believe twitter should be the main platform where NEO engage community its the most blockchain friendly by far , ofcourse its better to repost content from twitter to tik tok or any other social media. Content creation should target education / neo ecosystem as whole
We shouldn't be ignoring TikTok, and it's probably a good idea to start building a footprint there for all the stats and figures shown in previous comments. I also think this is a more useful form of social media outreach that can be performed outside of Neo's current marketing channels.
One of the things about the proposal that I think needs to be addressed is how much NGD marketing is will to re-post TikTok videos across their socials. Has the team verified this will be some NGD marketing will support?
Rather, we would require the support of NEO on Twitter, Telegram, and Discord, attracting the necessary audience for the start.
Using anecdotal experience, NGD rarely (if ever) retweeted any of the Neo News Today podcast episodes we released, and those focused primarily on Neo's devs, dApps, and ecosystem partners.
Before the proposal can move forward to discussing funding, there'd need to be input from NGD marketing (those who have access to Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, and Discord) to see if this is something they'd even be willing to cross-post, re-post.
I also want to emphasize how much further proposals would go if there was groundwork already put into the initiative.
Is there any work done that's getting the ball rolling? What happens if $2k is awarded and the videos only yield 100 views across 30 deliverables? How do we know the team is capable of creating these brand new videos? What are the algorithms that the team intends to tap into? Where is examples of past work that can alleviate any of our concerns about ability to deliver?
Anecdotally, I never asked for funding for Neo Colorado until I hosted more than eight meetups over nine months (and I was still denied funding). I only say this to highlight that bringing some deliverables or research comprised from "sweat equity" might be able to make the ask a little more digestible from voting members who are managing a dwindling treasury and are social media adverse.
I'd really like to see an example video or two, and more defined metrics that will target algorithms before I feel comfortable voting "yay." That said, TikTok is probably the best social media platform to target for getting the good word about Neo out to the masses.
@DylanNNT
Has the team verified this will be some NGD marketing will support?
-That is up to Neo to decide. We went in this direction to help save funds on TikTok marketing.
I also want to emphasize how much further proposals would go if there was groundwork already put into the initiative.
-Yes, check the video in the proposal.
How do we know the team is capable of creating these brand new videos?
Did you check the video in the proposal?
I'd really like to see an example video or two
-We already delivered this and explained the video in the proposal...
What are the algorithms that the team intends to tap into?
-Just the usual social media algorithms, nothing out of the ordinary. Express content in a manner that's engaging for likes, shares, comments, and follows.
...the videos only yield 100 views across 30 deliverables?
-As with anything else social media-wise, we can do our part to the best of our abilities. It's also up to the support of Neo and the community as well. NNT for example. You can create awesome content, but support on all sides is required for the reach.
@gsmachado
Can you tell us when the voting on the proposal will start?
How it works, and what are the timelines for that?
@Dimitrije25 Everything is described at https://docs.grantshares.io. Read a bit, especially the "User Manual" section. You will find all the details there. 👍
In the end, it's up to you to put the proposal on-chain or not. Do you feel confident that any of the GrantShares Members would endorse it?
@gsmachado
Thanks.
Yes, we think the proposal is great.

Ah yes, I just saw the video. Apologies, it was buried in there and I missed it. Yeah, this seems like a good type of content for the TikTok platform, and is a good first draft for the types of videos that the team intends to publish.
I see this has been put on chain so there's no more room for discussion to help flesh this proposal out. While I like that there will be a team going after new social media it would've been nice to learn more about the plan for the 30 videos the team plans to release - what's the outline for these 30 videos? Have the videos already been identified? Are they already being worked on?
What happens after the first 30 videos? Will the team stop making any new content? What if the team doesn't get any more funding after this first round of GrantShares? Is there a long-term plan for this proposal?
Also, is there already an account that's been set up, and some videos pre-loaded ready to hit the ground running? What's the TikTok handle? Are there any other socials to bolster the support of the videos? You mention that it's up to NGD to decide, but also state in the initial proposal that their support is very important. Have you already spoken with anyone at NGD Marketing about supporting this initiative? It's one thing to say Neo needs to help, but it's another thing to get them to actually post and re-post.
Anyway, there's not much that can be done to further the discussion or update the proposal because it's been put on-chain. Best of luck!
I'm not a Grantshares member but I think it's a great idea to bring new audiences to Neo. And even though I´m not a TikTok fan, I have to admit it´s got enormous reach and influence. We shouldn´t ignore it and as a Neo community take a step forward.
The team seems well thought out. They are dedicated community members and with Somniumwave himself, we are sure to get some awesome looking videos for TikTok.
With that being said: I´m rooting for you to have this proposal granted.
@DylanNNT: There are some valid questions left, yes. About "What happens after the first 30 videos? Will the team stop making any new content? What if the team doesn't get any more funding after this first round of GrantShares? Is there a long-term plan for this proposal?"
Hopefully they will keep working on it and receive more funding. Another idea would be https://nekohit.com/ then. I think there are more community members which are supporting the TikTok idea and would even sponsor some funds for it (including me).
However, I have high hopes in our awesome Grantshares members and NGD, so it shouldn't be necessary.
One thing that I think is crucial before this can move on is that you guys get in contact with NGD marketing team. I know this is a open and distributed community but in my eyes marketing effort has to be coordinated a bit more centralized. Thus, without any inputs from NGD marketing team I fear that that this will be a one-off action without much lasting effect. It would be great if you guys could get somebody from NGD to comment on this thread.
@DylanNNT @Mrxdaunknown @csmuller
To respond to you guys.
what's the outline for these 30 videos? Have the videos already been identified? Are they already being worked on?
-As noted in the proposal, the videos will be subject to 3 main categories we think are ideal. The rest of the videos will be worked on after the funds are received, that is, if.
What happens after the first 30 videos? Will the team stop making any new content? What if the team doesn't get any more funding after this first round of GrantShares? Is there a long-term plan for this proposal?
-The idea is to finish the first month and apply for full-time, long-term funding from NGD. As this is daily work, we aim to carry it on as such.
Also, is there already an account that's been set up, and some videos pre-loaded ready to hit the ground running? What's the TikTok handle?
-No, the idea is for this to be an Official Neo TikTok profile, so we need the approval of Neo to carry on with that.
-The idea is to get support from Twitter, Discord, Telegram, and Facebook. We think that if NGD supports this proposal, they will support sharing as well, as its part of the proposal. We only need their approval, I will carry on the work on that, as I am an Admin to all of these places already, except Twitter, we will need support there for tweets.
Yes, we spoke about the proposal in general with Sam from NGD.

However, I have high hopes in our awesome Grantshares members and NGD, so it shouldn't be necessary.
Yes, if the proposal gets approved, we will ask for full-time funding from NGD to keep the work and develop the profile.

It would be great if you guys could get somebody from NGD to comment on this thread.
-I spoke with Sam from NGD, and the idea is to get the funding from GS, and a long-term one from NGD directly.
--
At this point, we are waiting for someone who likes the proposal to endorse it and vote to start, and hopefully start the work as soon as possible.
It would be great if you guys could get somebody from NGD to comment on this thread.

@leiw5173 can you comment on this? ☝️
@gsmachado
To add to that, I was of course thinking apply to NGD with the results of our first month and based on that wait for the review and further funding.
Just so there's full understanding.
This idea comes from Neo Pods who talked with me about their idea. I think it is a great idea to make videos on TikTok.
And from my point of view, it is better to get funds from GS at the beginning and see what will happen. If the result is great, marketing will consider to upload their video on Neo official YouTube channel and give them long-term support including long term funding.
In this case, I suggest that NGD could endorse this proposal if no other member would be strongly willing to. FYI, @steven1227 and @leiw5173

As one from the "Reject" party, I'd say that I don't believe these things can be effective if done in "do 30 videos and forget it" manner. I have no doubts that the team can deliver them, but these things need to be done regularly for months and years (like NNT does) and that to me looks a bit out of scope for Grantshares with its limited treasury.
@roman-khimov Not sure if you read the whole conversation. We mentioned that.
Correct, but the proposal lacks any sort of momentum. So, why would there be a distribution from a dwindling treasury supply for a proposal that has a finite shelf life? It's nothing personal, but I don't know the team's ability to put this account together and stick with it. There just aren't examples of past social media campaigns your team has conducted. This makes it hard for voting members to build an educated guess about a potential success rate of building a TikTok channel from scratch.
If I am being honest, the current proposal comes off as a very short-sighted campaign. 30 videos in 30 days, and then what? What if your team doesn't get another round of funding? What if NGD doesn't re-Tweet or talk about your TikTok posts at all? Are you just going to quit the campaign? Will this team be making TikTok videos a year from now?
This is just one voting member's opinion, but this proposal could've had a better shot at success if the team requesting the funds already started a TikTok account. Already put out 30 videos. Already learned by trial-and-error what does and doesn't work. Could already share what KPIs they'll be focusing on to grow and improve. Already showed a little dedication to the vision and put in the sweat equity to ask for GrantShares support.
TikTok is an amazing social media growth opportunity and it's clear that this team can put together videos, and probably figure out a smooth process to churn out decent content. But, it's not clear if this team has the grit to stick around and keep making content if there's no funding or assumed support from NGD.
Our roles is as stewards of the GrantShares treasury, so we have to be really stringent in what gets funded. These funds should go towards long-term initiatives that will be here through thick and thin. I'd love to revisit this conversation if this team went ahead and acted as if they were rewarded the grant, built the TikTok channel, and put out the content. Maybe then the voting members could have something more tangible to grasp on to and have more of a connection with the proposal.
Abstract
Set up NEO on TikTok, create content and promote NEO TikTok channel to attract new community members and NEO users, as well as inform, attract and engage the current NEO members on TikTok, towards the goal of community development, awareness, and reach.
Proposal Information
Description
TikTok at the current time is the most trending social media platform with over 1.5 billion users, over which a billion are active on monthly basis. In 2021, TikTok also became a crypto hub, with more users finding crypto news relevant and subscribing. Next to that, TikTok is the social media for getting in trending at the moment.
Motivation
With the continuous status of the bear market, the community interest trend has dropped to a minimum. To revert the trend, it is our opinion that NEO should focus on social media more, and see to bring its word to its users, in this case, to the most trendy social media - TikTok.
Goals
The Main goals would be to attract new users, and community supporters, spread the word, make NEO trending, and, as well, keep NEO members informed and bring up awareness. With dedicated work, funds, and support of NEO.
Video format would see us supporting content about, but not limited to:
-''NEO Informative'' - content created to onboard new users and community members, easing the understanding and logistics of NEO
-''Why NEO'' - content oriented around bringing up the facts on why the users should use NEO and why community members should join NEO
-''NEO Ecosystem'' - content oriented around NEO Ecosystem, showing NEO successes and supporting initiatives
Deliverables & Roadmap
Deliverables Verifiability
How would the community be able to verify that the promised deliverables (or milestones) were successfully achieved?
-Analytics -Provided feedback -Profile monitoring
Budget Plan
Provide reasons why the requested budget is a good fit for the proposal.
-The explained budget would see us delivering 30 videos, with our aim of releasing a video a day. We believe that the starting point should be this, to both affect the algorithm properly, but on the other side to also have constant uploads.
On that note, part of the proposal had us create a sample video in order to show our idea better and present our work qualities.
''NEO Supported Exchanges'' - NEO Supported Exchanges.mp4 | Files.fm.
Goals of the video: -Informative content for both new and current community members -User reach -Awareness spread and user engagement for NEO -Community building -Awareness for Ndapp
Script writing - Dimitrije Video Production - Ognjen Voiceover - Sergio
If the proposal gets accepted, the video will be a part of the 30-video collection we aim to release.
-Next to that, to cut on the costs, we agreed to not implement and ask for funds for direct marketing at this point, to both prove work deliverability first, and increase chances for the proposal to be approved with a lesser budget needed. Rather, we would require the support of NEO on Twitter, Telegram, and Discord, attracting the necessary audience for the start.
How the budget would be used to achieve the project goal?
-Script Writing -Voiceover -Graphic Design -Video Design -Social Media Management -Community Management
