inherited styles overriding current styles (in limited situations)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open inherit.html

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The first word "bold" should be in bold, instead it's displayed without bold

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
IE6/7/8 on Windows XP

Please provide any additional information below.
The site where I originally found the bug only triggered it on IE6 and IE7.
I can try and piece together some example markup if you think it would help.
